WILLEM C. VIS INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION MOOT

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is the largest and most honoured supranational private law competition. Law students from some of the world's most prestigious universities come to Vienna to test their commercial law skills, to deepen their knowledge of arbitration and to improve their rhetorical and debating skills. The experiences and impressions of the unique atmosphere of the competition will last a lifetime, and so will contacts and friendships formed in a community of students from nearly 90 countries.

Each year, the organisers of the competition put together a complex fictional case involving international trade law issues, which is usually resolved under the CISG, as well as under the UNCITRAL and ICC Rules of Arbitration, in keeping with strict formal requirements. Good argumentation requires detailed and thorough research.

The Vis Moot process
3 rounds:

  1. Preparation of a Memorandum for Claimant
  2. Preparation of a Memorandum for Respondent
  3. Oral Hearings in Vienna

The very first Vis Moot team in the history of Pázmány Law will compete at the 31st Willem C. Vis Moot Court in Vienna, March 2024.

A Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot a legnagyobb és egyben a legrangosabb szupranacionális magánjogi perbeszédverseny. A joghallgatók a világ legnevesebb egyetemeiről érkeznek Bécsbe, hogy összemérjék kereskedelmi jogi tudásukat, elmélyítsék a választottbíráskodással kapcsolatos ismereteiket, valamint fejlesszék retorikai- és vitakészségüket. Emellett a versenyzők életre szóló élményekkel gazdagodhatnak a verseny különleges légkörének köszönhetően, és nem utolsósorban életre szóló barátságok köttethetnek a közel 90 országból érkező hallgatói közösségben.

A verseny szervezői minden évben egy komplex, nemzetközi kereskedelmi jogi kérdéseket felvető fiktív jogesetet állítanak össze, melyet - szigorú formai követelmények mellett - általában a CISG, valamint az UNCITRAL és az ICC Rules of Arbitration alapján kell megoldani.

  1. Felperesi beadvány elkészítése (Memorandum for Claimant)
  2. Alperesi beadvány elkészítése (Memorandum for Respondent)
  3. Szóbeli fordulók Bécsben (Oral Hearings)

A 31. Willem C. Vis Moot Court keretei között mutatkozik be 2024 márciusában, Bécsben a Pázmány történelmének első Vis Moot csapata.
